After quite an eventful and jam-packed year in terms of the sheer amount of projects that we have designed, built and installed, the business and its requirements are evolving quite rapidly.
Playscheme was started 24 years ago with just John, Steve and Carol, and as we've grown, the demand on the resources within the company are having to be stretched a lot further. With this shift in dynamic, we have decided to reshuffle the structure of the business, with Steve Danby taking on his new role as Managing Director.
Steve will now lead the business going forward, with John Danby focusing on sales within the company, leaving the overall running, planning and direction of the company to his son.
In his new role, which will become a lot more office based, Steve will be looking at securing future business, developing relationships with new customers, and spending time overseeing all departments within the company.
John will now take up his advanced role as Chairman and Head of Sales, leading the sales team and crafting national sales plans, whilst establishing and nurturing relationships with new and existing customers. He will continue to provide consultations and advice to educational bodies, parish councils and local authorities on the most suitable play equipment for children. In addition to this, he can give guidance regarding obtaining potential funding for clients’ desired play schemes.
The future of Playscheme is looking incredibly promising, with strategies in place for growth in supplying products and a bespoke design facility for playground and theming companies, with the prospect of moving into supplying international markets.
Steve Danby says of his new role and the change in business, “This is a very exciting time for us as we see changes and development in Playscheme, but it’s also a great opportunity to develop our amazing staff here. I can’t wait to spend more time in the office with the team, getting more involved in projects from conception to completion."
John Danby is also optimistic about the future of the company, commenting, “I am really looking forward to seeing where the company goes, focussing on sales and relationships, and spending more time with my customers.”
This news also comes with the expansion plans for the workshop and design studio in Elvington, as well as a further expanding of the design team, with a brand new Technical Designer in house. Not only this, but there has also been a welcomed refresh of the Playscheme brand and the launch of a recently redeveloped website. This contemporary website has optimised the journey of the user, allowing them to create wish lists of play products, which in turn, streamlines our sales process when building quotes for clients.
